Geographical coverage |
Kyrgyz Republic
|
Unit of measurement |
per 1 sq km, kilograms
|
Definitions |
Emissions of pollutants into the atmospheric air from stationary sources, per 1 sq.m.km of territory is the total amount of polluting emissions into the atmosphere from stationary sources in the regional context per 1 square kilometer.
|
Concepts |
“Release of pollutants into the atmosphere is the entry into the atmospheric air of pollutants (having an adverse effect on public health or activity, on the environment) from stationary (non-mobile)
sources of emissions (organized or unorganized).
A stationary source of atmospheric pollution is any (point, area, etc.) source with an organized or unorganized release of pollutants into the atmospheric air, permanently or temporarily located or functioning within the boundaries of a site (area) of an object, enterprise, legal entity or individual belonging to it or assigned to it in accordance with the legislation.”
|
Rationale and interpretation |
Increased air pollution has a negative impact on human health and ecosystem sustainability, as well as increases the corrosion of technical infrastructure elements. This leads to increased public spending on healthcare, loss of ecosystems, and additional economic costs for maintaining infrastructure facilities. This indicator provides an opportunity to assess the environmental impact of individual sectors, in particular: energy, transport, industry, agriculture and waste management activities.
|
Method of computation |
Emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere per unit area Calculation method:
Emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere per unit area = The amount of pollutants released into the atmosphere per year / Area
|
Comments and limitations |
is calculated according to the Instructions for conducting state control over the protection of atmospheric air from emissions of pollutants by motor vehicles in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Data sources |
The collection and calculation is carried out by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
|
Data collection methods |
Data collection is carried out on the basis of the state statistical form No. 2-TP (Air) “On the protection of atmospheric air”. The form is also provided with information from subjects of economic and other activities on the sources and volumes of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere based on the state statistical form No. 2-TP (Air) “On Atmospheric Air Protection”. The form is filled out based on the data of the primary accounting organized at the enterprise, logs of stationary sources of pollution and their characteristics, logs of operation of gas purification and dust collection plants, as well as the environmental passport of the enterprise.
